These deliciously light and airy desserts will have you reaching for seconds and thirds!

~A bonus to this weeks recipe is that in addition to these puff pastry desserts being so yummy is that they are very simple and quick to make, and you probably already have most of the ingredients on hand in your own kitchen. Lets get started making these amazing Strawberries and creme desserts!

This recipe makes about 6 large/or 12 small puff pastry desserts~

~Ingredients~

  • 1 package of premade puff pastry dough( let it sit in room temperature for at least 15 minutes before starting this recipe)
  • 1 egg+ dash of milk(for the egg brush)
  • granulated sugar(for sprinkling on top)

Cream cheese filling(optional but delicious)

  • 1/2 of an 8 oz package of softened cream cheese( philadelphia tastes the best)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • dash of vanilla extract

~Toppings~

  • 1 pound fresh strawberries
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream(the higher fat percentage the better)
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • dash of salt

Step One

Preheat your oven to 425 degrees fahrenheit.

Step 2

Starting with your defrosted dough(after it has sat in room temperature for at least 20 minutes), lay it out onto a cutting board and use a rolling pin to roll it out slightly thinner.

Step 3

Using a knife or a pizza cutter, cut the dough into 12 even rectangles,( optionally you can use a ruler for even measurements.

Step 4

Cut a smaller rectangle inside half of the rectangles-leaving about 1/2 an inch-1 border of dough uncut all around.

Step 5

Set the dough aside, and place the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, with a dash of vanilla extract, into a small bowl. Whisk with a hand mixer for about 1 min, until combined and slightly fluffy. Place a generous tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture into the center of each puff pastry.

Prep a small bowl of granulated sugar. In another small bowl/cup, crack a whole egg with a splash of milk, and using a fork whisk together until fully combined.Prepare a food brush as well.

Step 7

Get a baking sheet ready, and place the 6 uncut rectangles on the sheet. Using the brush, brush on the egg wash on top of those 6 rectangles. After that, set the other 6 rectangles(with the cut borders), on top of the egg brushed rectangles. Sprinkle the sugar on top generously.

Step 8

Bake the puff pastry rectangles for about 15-17 minutes, until a dark golden brown(you will want to bake for longer than you think). After they have baked, let them cool completely at room temperature.

Step 9

While the puff pastry is cooling down, prepare the whipped cream and strawberry topping. Start by washing the strawberries very well, and slicing them in half, or in four long pieces, based on your preference. Set aside.

Then, add the heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract into a stand mixer fitted with a whisk attachment. Whisk on medium/high speed until stiff peaks form. Place the whipped frosting into a piping bag fitted with an open star tip. Prep a sifter with powdered sugar.

Step 10

Now returning back to the puff pastry, pipe a generous amount of frosting into the center of the pastry. Top it with strawberries on top, and sift as much powdered sugar as you would like.

Lastly, Enjoy!
